Boat Song

if you were a boat, my darling
a boat, my darling
i'd be the wind at your back

if you were afraid, my darling
afraid, my darling
i'd be the courage you lack

if you were a bird, then i'd be a tree
and you would come home, my darling, to me

if you were asleep, then i'd be a dream
wherever you are, that's where my heart will be

oh, do you know we belong together?
oh, do you know my heart is yours?

if you were the ocean, i'd be the sand

if you were a song, i'd be the band

if you were the stars, then i'd be the moon

a light in the dark, my darling, for you

oh, do you know we belong together?
oh, do you know my heart is yours?

tessa joy,

this last month has been so fun baby! you experienced your first christmas! you didn't like the feel of the tree, but the lights mesmerized you. you loved taking the shiny bulbs off and holding them. you're still not crawling, but you love to pivot and turn around on your tummy until you get to where you want to be. you love your babies and farm animals you got for christmas. you also love to play peek-a-boo and you belly laugh with dad during your baths at night. we rang in your first new year with a high fever and lots of snuggles. turns out you had your first ear infection. we took you to urgent care after a sleepless night and your rectal temp getting up to 104 degrees. despite your high fever and sore ears, you were still such a happy baby giving your weak little smiles between sleeping and nursing. you are starting to be quite the copy cat with noises and sounds we make. you love when dad hums because you try to copy it back. you love to look in the mirror at yourself lately and wave. your favorite books are ones that have baby faces in them as you love to smile and coo at them. you continue to amaze us every day and we cannot believe you will be turning one this year!

love,
dad and mom

tessa joy,

you sure are becoming quite the little person! you are so happy and always smiling, laughing, and spitting with your tongue out at us. your morning snuggles are mommy's favorite. we hope you never get too old to snuggle us. meal time is one of your favorite times of day now that you can feed yourself. you sure love to shovel those peas in! you also love to play and explore with your spoon when you're done eating. you experienced your first thanksgiving where you ate some mashed potatoes and gravy. you tried some turkey but was not a fan of that. when you really like something you eat, you make the goofiest face by scrunching up your nose and pursing your lips. we love how expressive you are baby. we hope that never changes. you are so special to us and we love you more than you know.

love,
dad and mom
